The first run of rock blasting has officially marked the start of the works to build the Mules 2-3 Lot of the Brenner Tunnel.

The BTC consortium, in which Astaldi holds a 42.51% stake, has adopted a green philosophy: concrete will be made using the rock excavated to build the tunnels, and truck passage will be reduced to a minimum thanks to a system of conveyor belts that will carry the excavation material directly to the crushing system and cement plant being built a short distance from the site, making this a “fully local” work site.

On the same day, the work site also marked the celebration of St. Barbara, the patron saint of, among others, blasters and miners.
