Description

The project to build Line C of the Rome underground is one of its kind given the importance of the archaeological site the line runs through and the consequent technical difficulties in constructing said line. Moreover, it is the first large public transport infrastructure in Italy to be remotely driven and controlled by a fully automated system. The route, measuring over 25km in length, will run across the city from north-west to south-east, touching Rome’s historic centre – a UNESCO world heritage site - in several locations.

Therefore, a project with a soul in the past but offering an example for the future. Once completed, it will be possible to go from St. Peter’s to the Colosseum in just 5 minutes.
