Astaldi announces that, as part of a joint venture, has been awarded the EUR 73 million contract (Astaldi share: 70%) for the construction of the New Southeast Bari Area Hospital (Nuovo Ospedale del Sud-Est Barese) in Monopoli-Fasano, Italy.  The construction contract calls for the performance of all the civil works and all the systems in a new healthcare facility in the Region of Puglia, which will provide 299 beds and 9 operating rooms over a total floor space covering 178,000 square metres.  The Customer is Azienda Sanitaria Locale della Provincia di Bari (the local health concern of the Province of Bari).  The works will have a duration of approximately 3 years.  In line with common practice, the contract is expected to be signed after verification of the prerequisites for taking part in the tender.

Furthermore, a EUR 397 million contract (Astaldi share: 40%) was signed with Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group on 18 December for the construction of the Naples-Cancello Lot of the new Naples-Bari High-Speed Railway in Italy.  The signing of the agreement follows the award recorded last March and marks the beginning of the activities and the consequent insertion into the orders backlog of the contract value.

Lastly, on 22 December, the Italian Government's Interministerial Economic Programming Committee (“CIPE”) approved the final design of the Functional Lot 1, Verona-Vicenza Junction, of the Verona-Vicenza-Padua High-Speed / High-Capacity Line, in Italy, and authorised the start of the works for the 1st construction lot. This approval sets out the conditions for signing the Supplementary Document for this contract, and for the subsequent start of the work site activities by no later than the first half of 2018.  At present, the contract results to be entered in the Group’s orders backlog for a value equalling over EUR 900 million (Astaldi’s share).

As of today, the 2017 new orders total EUR 3.1 billion.
